Toy Train
The toy train is also called as Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. It is a 2 ft narrow gauge railway that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling. The railway is about 78 km long and its elevation varies by about 100 meters at New Jalpaiguri. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is been viewed by many tourist people. And also people in this region visit often this train and they will enjoy their weekends. Many films have portrayed the railway. This toy train ride is a beautiful and romantic approach to visitors. The joyful ride begins at New Jalpaiguri in the plains. The plains are very much warmer than the hills and when the train climbs up the mountain the climate gets much colder. Kali Temple
Kali temple is a historical temple which is very famous for its structure. The temple has good architecture and it attracts many tourists. Senchal Lake
Senchal Lake is located at a distance of 10 kms to the South-East of Darjeeling. This lake serves as the main water distributor for Darjeeling town. The lake is at an altitude of 8160 ft at the top of the hill. This is a nice picnic spot and it is very popular among the tourists. The area contains a 9-hole golf course with a clubhouse. The lake has a nice stretch of water. Boating and horse riding are also allowed in Senchal Lake. There are also restaurants near the Lake which will provide good food.
Tiger Hill
Tiger Hill is located 11 km from Darjeeling. It can be reached by jeep or by walking through Chowrasta. Tiger Hill is the best location to visit in the early morning. One can see the sunrise, which is very beautiful and a good feast for the eyes. Tiger Hill will be filled with people in the early morning and evening to see the sunrise and sunset respectively. When the sun rises slowly, it will through different colors on the Kanchenjunga from light pink to White. One can see the cloud floating on the hill before the sun rises. Totally Tiger Hill is an excellent place to watch the amazing fact of sunrise.
Mahakal Temple
The Mahakal temple is the most famous and the most respected in Darjeeling as many local people come and worship here. The main god here is Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Maheshwar. The temple is famous among both Hindu and Buddhist devotees. Mahakal Temple offers a magnificent view of the surroundings. It’s an uphill and people have to walk for about 15 minutes. People can see monkeys which Vander here and there. On the last bend of the top, there is a temple for Sai Baba. There are three gold-plated icons for Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwar. The temple is filled with different colored flags.
Peace Pagoda
Peace Pagoda is located in Darjeeling town. Peace Pagoda was built under the guidance of a Buddhist monk from Japan and his name is Nichidatsu Fujii. The foundation was laid on 3rd November 1972 and it was inaugurated on 1st November 1972. The overall height of the Pagoda is 28.5 meters and its diameter is 23 meters. It has a calm and quiet atmosphere that makes us fall in love with the place. The tourist people can see different stages of Buddha here. The Prayer room is at the top, with constant drum beats and chanting. This gives us more energy. The temple and its surroundings are beautifully decorated and maintained. Totally it is a good place to see.
